Leviticus "LA" Lewis

I was the President of the Model Rocketry Club at my High School. I was motivated by President John F. Kennedy’s words "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your county.”

Who is LA?

I've been interested in space and astrophysics since I was a young boy. I've served 20 years in the U.S. Navy and I was one of the first U.S. Navy officers assigned to the United Nations Headquarters, Department of Peace Keeping Operations.

His extensive career spans key roles in the Department of Homeland Security (TSA and FEMA) and interagency coordination efforts. Most recently, he served as a FEMA Detailee and Program Officer at NASA’s Planetary Defense Coordination Office (2021-2024), fostering collaboration between NASA and FEMA on planetary defense initiatives. Previously, as a FEMA Liaison to the DHS Joint Incident Advisory Group (2019-2021), he facilitated multi-agency response coordination for national security incidents. He held leadership roles as Acting Deputy Director of FEMA’s Response Operations Division (2018-2019) and Chief of the National Response Coordination Branch (2016-2018), overseeing national disaster response efforts, including evacuation programs and emergency coordination centers. From 2013 to 2016, he managed field operations, directing Incident Management Assistance Teams (IMAT) and national evacuation programs. Earlier, he served as FEMA’s representative to the DHS Space Team (2010-2014), contributing to national space policy, and as a Senior Liaison at the FBI National Joint Terrorism Task Force (2009-2013), enhancing intelligence and law enforcement collaboration. He also directed FEMA’s National Response Coordination Center (2007-2009), ensuring nationwide situational awareness and operational readiness. Before FEMA, he held national security and operations roles at Transportation Security Administration (TSA), General Dynamics (Anteon), and Danna Corp. His expertise in emergency response, homeland security, intelligence coordination, and interagency operations makes him a highly strategic leader for organizations focused on government consulting, disaster preparedness, and national security.
